Abstract
The number of children's libraries in Korea has increased rapidly since 2005. According to statistics of National Statistical Office, the number of public children's libraries is 89 on March 1, 2015. In addition, 83 of national public and private libraries for children are now being operated, by region, 18 in Seoul, 26 in Gyeonggi, 12 in Incheon, 6 in Gyeongnam, 4 in Daegu, 3 in Chungbuk, Ulsan, Kwangju and Chungnam respectively, 2 in Busan, Jeonnam and Jeju respectively, 1 in Daejeon, Gangwon, Gyeongbuk and Jeonb-uk respectively. Since 2000, 87 have been built. With the increase of children's public libraries, the number of domestic researches involved in children's libraries has increased since 2000, and the main subjects of researches in the academic aspect are mostly space and behavior. However, the subject involved in color of children's libraries has hardly been covered, so it is thought that there is urgent need for research in this field because color is necessary and important for children's growth process. Today, expansion of industrial factors based on scientific principles has resulted in inability of science to solve the social problems. Especially, due to the surging social problems in the psychological aspect, mental and psychological aspects of social problems such as mental brutal crime or bullying individuals are brought about. Therefore, there are efforts to solve the problems by studying human's cognitive parts in the academic aspect as an alternative for the current problems, and researches that help children's mental domain should be continued. The colors of children's libraries do not seem to be focused on the preference of children, the main users. That is, the research on colors of children's libraries is the plan to study interaction between space and users and to induce better stimulation and reaction to each other. It is also necessary and important research that expresses esthetic values to users' life and safety directly.
