Abstract
As the amount of internet data has grown exponentially since 2000, building mega data centers have become more frequent among corporates. This phenomenon illustrates that many companies strive to overcome the negative images that are brought up by social and environmental issues regarding indiscriminate energy consumption. Thus, the necessity of this study is greater as it points out the need for data centers to be transformed into buildings with environmentally responsible for public concerns to satisfy the social trend these days. This study not only diagnoses the social and environmental publicness issues that domestic and foreign data centers have faced since 2010, but also seeks for future directions of renewable energy use that accommodate public concern and architectural design while considering the environmental context suitable for data centers of corporates that are in need of reducing energy use. Based on the analysis of sustainable factors applied to most recent domestic and foreign data centers since 2010, future data center design should considered at areas where the annual average temperature is mild; with most amount of natural ventilation possible in accordance with solar panels installed on the facade to take advantage of domestic circumstances; furthermore at close proximity with local renewable energy power plant for mutual growth.
