Abstract
Seoul's Urban Hanok, supplied by builders from the 1930s to the 60s, was standardized because it was built inlarge quantities by dividing large parcels. As a result, a series of traditional architectural façades in the city center formed andbecame a symbol of the streets of the Hanok Dense District in Seoul. However, from the 1970s to the 1990s, due to theextension and repair, the outer shape of the prototype was transformed, resulting in a heterogeneous landscape. However, itwas a new attempt to use materials such as tiles and bricks to match the existing Hanok at that time, and it is worth the timeof the Urban Hanok façade. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate change since the 2010s to grasp the trend ofthe façade. In this study, the shape of walls, windows and roof shape were considered as the three components of the façade, and the changes in renovation and construction were investigated. As a result, firewall in Hanok and boundary wall of thefaçade were restored to the traditional form, and the windows and doors were replaced by double-wood windows withimproved thermal insulation performance, but the shape of the main gate remained largely unchanged. In addition, the roofretained the shape of the prototype, but it can be seen that the material of the tile is changing. The traditional streetscape ofHanok in Seoul's Hanok Dense District has been replicated due to the restrictions on shape and appearance, but since thefaçades before 2010 are gradually disappearing, the standard for renovation and new construction reflecting the times is afuture research task.
