- Abstract
- Architectural Promenade has been used not only in Western modern architecture to explain the compositions and architectural experience in the early 20th century but also in Korean modern architecture since the 60s and even in explaining experience in our traditional temples. This shows that Architectural Promenade is accepted as the universal concept regardless of time and place. However, it is questionable whether Korean Architectural Promenade have unique characteristics which cannot be found in Western Architectural Promenade. Therefore, this study through a comparative study of how Architectural Promenade has been used by architects to describe their own architectural experiences and including author's own experiences from a phenomenological perspective, the study tries to find unique Koreaness and better understand Architectural Promenade in Korean architecture. © 2021 Architectural Institute of Korea.
