Abstract
This study is on how the World Exposition held in urban space work on the restructuring of urban space together with capital flow from the Regulation Theory and space production. The World Exposition were compared by time from the viewpoint of Regulation Theory and the relationship between the indicator characteristics and the constituting elements of the World Exposition was verified by analyzing two sponsor cities in a single state regarding the contact between the space production theory produced by the parties in a society and the World Exposition. The result of this study are as following. First, the reproducing space of the World Exposition is detailed as the result of the hegemony sought by the accumulation system performance and the pressure/adjustment of the state, companies and citizens. Second, the physical space of the World Exposition and the reproduced space image formed by experiencing the physical space are reproduced by the spaces in sponsoring city and surrounding spaces along the time axis. Third, the space production mechanism of these reproduction and practice creates new reproduction area of the city and realizes the hegemony by providing city with foundation for space restructuring. This study contemplated the role of the World Exposition in the restructuring of urban space and capital circulation within the structure where the environmental factors, the planning factors, the experiencing factors and intangible contents of the World Exposition are reabsorbed and reformed. This study also found that the World Exposition should be closely analyzed from the viewpoint of urban space and approached with strategy rather than from the viewpoint of city marketing or profit/loss calculation. This study has its significance and value as a beginning point of future studies with such implication.
