Abstract
This paper introduces the artificial intelligence techniques for middleware in Massive Multiplayer Online Games (MMOG). The middleware market in the game industry is an emerging field point to many as-yet unexplored research opportunities. Among the prominent technologies for next generation rniddleware development, we survey three AI categories: the A* search algorithm for real-time navigation, adaptive navigation mesh, and adaptive contents with evolutionary computation. These techniques can be adopted for next generation of MMOG development, building on recent achievements in the AI research area.
