- Abstract
- Most often, site managers measure the installed quantity of aluminum forms on a construction site based on their subjective judgment. Accurate measurement of the actual installed quantity is a cumbersome and time-consuming process. Therefore, this research suggests an Image Processing Prototype Model to enhance the accuracy of actual installed quantity measurement and to reduce the time required for measurement. This study introduced these methods, which included an image collection method, the space division of a construction site and the allocation of work item codes for measuring actual installed quantities. With aluminum forms as the subject of this study, the installed quantity of aluminum forms in one whole unit of an apartment building were measured. As a result, it was found that about 86% of the actually installed quantity of aluminum forms was measured automatically. This meant that an Image Processing based approach could measure the installed quantity of aluminum forms automatically without human involvement. It was shown that there was the potential to apply this method to other construction work processes through easy modification of the threshold value and algorithm.
