Abstract
To perceive space is to see with one’s eyes the objects arranged in space centered on an axis. We recognize what we see with our eyes, our view point is one in the moment in which we see the image, and we think in the perspective of the view point. The world of unconsciousness is not structured where the inexpressible are floating. However, even impossible figures are already structured when we try to express them. To see an object means to interpret it since human beings look at an object in a certain perspective and angle. As such, a phenomenon is combined with a meaning in that we interpret it. In order to deal with the structures of centrifugal spatial images, the current researcher adapts the concept of rhizome and the theory of hyper-cube from Deleuze and Guattari. The objects of this study include view points for seeing and images of centrifugal spatial structures. This study limits itself to visual images in the analysis of the multi-viewpoint space. The current researcher has selected <Another World 1947> and <Relativity 1953> out of MC Asher’s relativity image series as still images. She also has selected as film images with the concept of time, the expression of the spaces within the space ship in Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 movie <2001: A Space Odyssey>, the space-switching shots in Michel Gondry’s 1999 music video Let Forever Be, and the shots that express space by the movement of objects in Christopher Nolan’s 2010 movie <Inception>. She has analyzed the objects’ plane and spatio-structural characteristics in terms of the concept of rhizome and within the framework of the hyper-cube. As a result of the analysis in the perspective of seeing a 3-dimensional space from the hyper-cube, it turns out that the objects of the analysis are expressed by the movement of the central axis and the change of viewpoints. This is co-existential parallelism between dimensions in which one can see an object from a different viewpoint via images showing changes of viewpoints without modification. Explained in terms of the hyper-cube, these images show characteristics of Deleuze’s and Gattary’s rhizome including centrifugal, non-boundary, and disordered order. The flow of multi-viewpoints shows the change of space as its form changes in the course of its transformation. We can identify that characteristics in terms of a unrealistic structure are revealed including heterogeneous combination of opposite spaces, paradoxical contradiction, changes of viewpoints, and movement of time and space. We can find out that these de-structural and centrifugal characteristics of rhizome reveal themselves by juxtaposing the existing concentrated and ordered spaces indifferent dimensions. Due to this, we can conclude that they extend the links among thoughts and the expression of multi-viewpoint images presents diverse perspectives from different dimensions. Thus, the current researcher hopes to contribute in future to the development of spectacular images expressed in films by analyzing the characteristics of the images shown by such various perspectives in developing visual effects of spatial images.
