- Abstract
- This talk introduces works of “the generation after” Korean artists, whose photographs reveal crevices of the modern and contemporary history of Korea. The artists have problematized national memories of historical events of Korea. They explore transformations in collective memories and pose questions on official records of the events which were modified, edited, distorted, and deleted. Focused on the tension between national and individual memories, the artists recover specific local histories embedded in oblivion.
