- Abstract
- The Taekwondo Performance venue will be the first of its kind in Korea. There are other performance venues that have hosted Taekwondo or martial-arts performances in the past. However, these venues were not built specially for the performances but were remodeled to suit these performances. Thus, the performance stage and other service areas lack in space or are very limited. The Taekwondo performance venue planned for the Olympic Park will be very significant in this aspect. Also, the Taekwondo performance venue is not just for Taekwondo matches and Taekwondo themed performances but designed to accommodate other performances as well. The overall consensus regarding building a venue just for Taekwondo and Taekwondo themed performances were very negative when considering its ability to reach maximum audience and effective use of space. Regardless, this study is focused on the basic idea of a specialized venue for Taekwondo themed performances. This venue has allocated both protruding stage areas with changeable stage areas and also variable seating arrangements to facilitate various types of performances. This study concludes that a specialized performance venue can be easily modified to host a variety of performances as well as finding significance in building a performance specialized venue.
