dc.description.abstract | This study will examine space art, especially sculpture and architecture, in terms of intertextuality. Intertextuality is the core characteristics of deconstructism that reflects the changes of the times from the modernism to the postmodernism. It announces the death of an author and opens up new possibilities in interpretation while replacing a work with a text. Certain works of architecture and sculpture will be analyzed in terms of intertextuality, but for architecture, works that show the characteristics of situationism that precedes deconstructism. In so doing, deconstructism will be understood as the trend of thought in philosophical history. 'The Naked City' opens a door to a map of movement for a new life of the working class and 'New Babylon' suggests a universal city rearrangement for a new human image that is homo ludens. For sculpture, three artists' works will be considered. Jenny Holzer who is influenced by letterism that is part of situationism will be looked into. Her various materials and forms represent hybridity of the text. Bruce Nauman triggers questions about the death of an author. Since his works intend to have the viewer have open interpretation, his works create different interpretation in different spaces. Manfred Pernice questions contemporary society itself. He forms a new interpretation and a new relation by putting together various materials and architectures. Also, sculpture and architecture will be compared in terms of intertextuality. Architecture proposes a new way of life since it exists as a field of a certain time-space accident. But, sculpture creates more variable meanings since it can change space through movement. | - |
