공간 메타포를 활용한 EPG 인터페이스 디자인 개발 -DigitalTV EPG를 중심으로-

Abstract

디지털 TV는 방송 기술이 기존의 아날로그에서 디지털로 전환됨에 따라 다채널, 고화질, 쌍방향 서비스를 실현 가능케끔 발전되어가고 있고 이에 따라 TV의 EPG 서비스에 대한 역할에 대한 비중이 커지고 있다.하지만 EPG에 대한 익숙한 사용성과 서비스에 대한 의미전달이 모든 사용자들에게 충분히 제공 되고 있지 않은 실정으로 본 논문에서는 사용 시 나오는 문제점들을 인자들로 추출하여 제품의 컨셉으로 발전시켜 사용하기 효율적인 EPG 인터페이스 디자인을 제시하였다. 개발방향으로는 'Easy Approaching' 컨셉을 바탕으로, 사용자가 별도의 메뉴 접근 없이도 TV시청 중 간단하게 상하좌우 버튼만을 사용하여, 기본 EPG와 PVR이 제공하는 메뉴와 정보들로 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 EPG와 PVR녹화목록, 현재방송에 대한 통합시스템을 구축하였다. 그리고 'Easy Searching' 컨셉을 바탕으로, 현재 사용자가 시청하는 화면사이즈와 방송 화면 수를 간단한 Zoom In/out키 입력을 통해 조정함으로써, 원하는 프로그램을 쉽게 탐색할 수 있게 하는 TV환경에 맞는 ZUI(Zoom User Interface)를 도입하였다. 마지막으로 'Fun & Intuitive Interface'를 목표로 3D 공간 메타포의 인터페이스를 적용하여 사용자에게 직관적이고 유희적인 TV와 사용자간의 인터페이스를 제공하였다. SummaryAs existing broadcasting technology is now being converted from analog to digital, digital TV is now continuously being developed, making it possible to materialize multi-channel and high-resolution interactive service. Thus the role of TV EPG service is becoming relatively important. However in the actual circumstance, the means of handy usability and service on EPG is not being conveyed sufficiently to every user. In this study, we present an efficient EPG interface design. We have arrived to the final design by abstracting problems found while using the present EPG and developing it to the final concept.
