Abstract
This study analyzes the characteristics of the Korean silver class and the effects of the changes in the characteristics of the Korean silver class on the Korean silver industry. Till now, Korean silver class has been regarded as a uniform and monolithic group classified only by age and the Korean silver industry has been neglected as an unprofitable market. However, as the population of the Korean silver class with higher educations increases rapidly and the economic power of the Korean silver class improves greatly, the Korean silver industry emerges as a potential market for a good chance of success. Furthermore, the silver class begins to be recognized as a diversified group with very different needs. This study shows that the Korean silver class has various needs according to the health condition, age, family status, the level of wealth, etc, and therefore, Korean insurers should consider those characteristics of the Korean silver class in order to enter into the Korean silver industry successfully.
