Abstract
Organic electroluminescent devices (OELD's) have attracted much attention because of their possible application as large-area light-emitting displays. Their structures are mainly based on employing a multi-layer device structure containing an emitting layer and carrier transport layers of suitable organic materials [1]. In this study, several lanthanide complexes such as Tb(ACAC) 3(phen) and Tb(ACAC) 3(phen-Cl) were synthesized and the electroluminescence (EL) characteristics of their thin films were investigated by fabricating the devices with structures of anode/TPD/Tb complexes/Alq 3/cathode and anode/TPD/Tb complexes/Bebq 2/cathode, where low work function metal alloys such as Li:Al was used as the electron-injecting electrode (cathode).
