- Abstract
- On-board battery chargers for grid-to-vehicle applications require an accurate and reliable power control method that can quickly track power references under various operating conditions. This paper proposes a bidirectional power control strategy involving a predictive current controller to improve power control performance and dynamic responses in a single-phase cyclo converter-type high-frequency link converter. Since the proposed controller produces accurate duty values according to the power reference, it demonstrates superior transient performance under sudden changes compared with the conventional power control method. Also, the proposed method is robust even in the presence of grid disturbances, such as voltage fluctuations, frequency fluctuations, and harmonic distortion. MATLAB/Simulink simulation results validate the superiority of the proposed control method.
