- Abstract
- In this paper, hybrid metamaterial (HMTM) antennas which utilize metamaterial (MTM) property and double positive (DPS) property simultaneously, is presented. By combining these properties, some antennas having superior characteristics can be designed. Three prototype HMTM antennas are designed by using the zeroth-order resonance (ZOR) mode of MTM transmission line and the first positive (TM010) mode of the DPS transmission line. First, the small patch antenna with broad E-plane beamwidth is designed by combining the ZOR mode and the TM010 mode. Second, the wideband HMTM antenna is presented to operate from the ZOR mode to the TM010 mode. Finally, the dual-band omnidirectional circular polarized (CP) antenna is designed by utilizing the ZOR mode and the first-order resonance (FOR) mode. The design procedure of each antenna together with the measured results will be provided.
