Abstract
In this paper, an optimization techniques with FEM program is presented to minimize the torque ripple of the V-type IPMSM using notches on the rotor surface. The notch is optimized by an objective function and five design variables as to be able to minimize the cogging torque. A 3-phases 8-poles 45 kW IPMSM is modeled and simulated to verify the proposed algorithm. The result is reasonably good for reduction of cogging torque compared with the initial model.
