Abstract
Several previous studies have demonstrated a great potential, in simulating ultrasonic NDT in isotropic media, of the mass-spring lattice model (MSLM). In this study, a modified MSLM, called the rectangular mass-spring lattice model (RMSLM), is introduced which better models anisotropic media. Using the RMSLM, various wave phenomena such as generation, propagation, reflection, and refraction in transversely isotropic media have been simulated. The numerical results are shown to agree very well with the analytically found values.
