- Abstract
- This paper presents results of a survey of the employment status of the elderly in Korea. The status of employment of elderly people older than fifty-five years was studied using the labor panel study conducted by the Korea Labor Research Institute in 1998. Income, working hours, job, job satisfaction, job search effort and work training for persons who were employed before age 50 and after age 50 were analyzed. It was found that the elderly had difficulty in getting jobs after they reached 50 years old. Most jobs that they could find were temporary jobs. Their income was reduced significantly and they were not satisfied with their work and income.
