Abstract
According to the establishment plan of the Sejong City Museum Complex, AURI conducted four museum competitionsfollowing the Master Plan competition. The four museums include the Children's Museum, the Museum of Urbanism andArchitecture, the Design Museum, and the Digital Heritage Center. The winners of the Master Plan, Office OU and Jeong Rim,produced concrete plans about the Mater plan and guidelines for each museum. The purpose of this research is to analyzehow each designer interpreted and applied the Master Plan to individual museums. Conversely, it traces how the realizedMaster Plan changes based on the interpretation of individual museums. Through this analysis, the aim is to discuss theindependent and mutual relationship between each architectural design and master plan. The research proceeded with acomparative analysis of the works. The Master Plan and guidelines were analyzed, and factors influencing individual museumswere extracted. Selected analysis factors include the relationship between the common corridor and individual museums (scopeof corridor application, harmony between the corridor and individual museums, 8.1m grid system), and the application ofentrance courtyards and sunken courtyards. The analysis results revealed significantly different interpretations of the twoelements in the four museums. A comparison between the realized and original Master Plans confirmed a weakening ofintegration using datum. The 5.4m and 8.4m composite modules were only applied in certain areas, and the sense of enclosuresurrounding the entrance courtyard was weakened in some museums. To achieve harmony between the integration of theMaster Plan and the individuality of each museum, careful planning during the Master Plan implementation phase is crucial.
