Abstract
: Since 2012, National Chang-geuk Company of Korea(NCCK) tried to diversify the form of Chang-geuk stage as a "Modern performing art", and made a good record in popularization and modernization of Chang-geuk. This study aimed to divide the history of NCCK into two, 'the settlement period(1962∼2011)’ and 'the take-off(2012∼now)', and to analyze the theatrical effect of the stage form in the ‘take-off’ period. The significant feature of proscenium stage is on the upgrade of Chang-geuk through the magnificent stage scale and effects, And the case of thrust stage is 'the combination of a proscenium stage and a flexible stage'. Using the arena, the feature reveals from the 'immediate communication with the audience'. In the analysis on the aspect of audience, proscenium stage set them as observers on the separate space, thrust stage made them as nearby witnesses, and the arena changed them as active participants through the interactive communication. With the results, this study showed the good record of Chang-geuk was possible because of the modernization such as diversified and upgraded stage forms and the immediate communication with the audience. Hence, in order to achieve the globalization of Chang-geuk, preparing plentiful repertory, making various, sophisticated stage form and producing a natural form of the stage as ‘artless art’ is important.
