- Abstract
- This study aims to suggest directions for developing modular-based prototypes for the elderly housing based on guidelines derived from the elderly housing planning. The previous studies have focused on the characteristics of the elderly, residential plan, and modular housing planning individually, but there are very few integrated studies on the modular-based elderly housing prototypes. Therefore, this study can be differentiated from the previous studies in that it suggests a modular-based prototype by analyzing the behavior of the elderly and drawing guidelines. This study first analyzes the characteristics of the elderly housing planning and modular housing through literature reviews and theoretical considerations. Then, the system kitchen, the prefabricated bathroom, and the entrance, where standardization is important, are selected, and the space modules are derived from two types of independent and dependent types according to their behaviors. The standardized unit modules are formed through the derived space modules and the prototypes in which each module is combined are presented. The result of this study is expected to contribute to the activation of modular housing customized for the elderly.
