Abstract
Arts management (or administration) education offers students "the tools to create, develop, facilitate, and evaluate arts and cultural programs and organizations" (AAAE, 2017). Arts management research includes a wide spectrum of areas, from management of arts and cultural businesses, events, and festivals to community development to cultural policy at all levels. This paper aims to map the ecology of the field of arts and cultural management education by exploring the various connections between practice, education, and research. Incorporating methodological techniques from the stakeholder mapping and snowball methods, interviews were conducted with the key stakeholders of major associations within the field of arts management, starting with international associations and narrowing down to organizations in Korea. Eventually, this paper will examine the epistemology of arts management education and research in order to make preliminary recommendations for understanding how we can know, learn, and approach the diverse dimensions of the arts management.
