Abstract
Bowing phenomenon in the ultra-thin silicon solar cell development is one of the most important issues in its realization. Recently, several laboratories have revealed that the mechanical properties of the Al composite layer on silicon solar cells are in charge of bowing. The aluminum composite layer consisting of Al powders, glass frits, and resin binders is screen-printed. Although the amount of glass frits in the aluminum paste is relatively small, those play a big role in electrical performance of silicon solar cell. However, the mechanical properties of the glass frits added aluminum layer have never been explored. In this work, we investigate the mechanical properties of the sintered Al composite layer with glass frits and verify the correlation between the bowing effect and the amount of glass frits in the Al paste for a ultra-thin c-Si solar cell.
