Abstract
With the development of information and communication technology, the university library is constantly changing as a place to cultivate a lot of knowledge in various ways as a field of active information search and exchange due to development of printing technology. Especially, it utilizes the staircase space as a learning space to encourage users to communicate more actively. The staircase space in the architectural space is a vertical component of the architecture that is transitional in nature with the connection of the space based on the experience of space., so that more efficient learning and research activities can be achieved through changes in spatial composition. Unlike the past, space integration is taking place in university libraries, which are developing as spaces for creating new knowledge. New spaces such as seminar room, group study room and multipurpose staircase space are created and relaxed while free discussion and exhibition are held, and more creative and leading learning is being done through active information exchange. The staircase space in the modern library plays a role not only to vertically integrate the space, but also to expand the function of the staircase space as the size and shape of the space are separated by separating the wall and the column from the staircase. The new large staircase space is most prominent in the modern university library and has various functions such as learning, resting, cultural events and lectures while vertically integrating the space.
