Abstract
The retaining reflection color developed from the photonic crystals has been current interest. The volatile solvents, such as alcohols and water, evaporated very quickly and reflecting colors disappeared. Some ionic liquids can permeate in between the polymer photonic crystal layers. Block copolymers, such as the polystyrene-b-poly (2-vinylpyridine)(PS-b-P2VP), have been used to obtain photonic crystals. The polymer molecular weights of 52k-57k was swelled by the ionic liquid (1-thyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide) mixtures of ethanol and water. A variety of color expressions was analyzed through UV visible spectrometer.
