- Abstract
- In this paper I studied some characteristics of new words appearing after 2010s. First, I examined the expansion of formation rules of blends. Blends are made by combining two words, at least one of which is a shortened form. Blends generally have new meanings different from original words. But recent blends like ‘eommadungjeol, mingmuruk’ don’t have new meanings. They express in the form of word the meaning which we represent in the form of phrase. Next, I examined the abbreviations like ‘honjok’ that has never been seen before. I also looked at the expansion of abbreviations by replacement like ‘beopalmot, jeongalmot’. And I found new adjectives like ‘pingkeupingkeuhada, gaeulgaeulhada’ which were made by repeating the same noun. Interestingly these express in the form of word the meanings which we couldn’t have expressed by adjectives until now.
