- Abstract
- 이 글은 2015년 12월 28일 한국과 일본 정부 사이에서 이루어진 ‘합의’에 초점을 맞춰 일본군 ‘위안부’를 둘러싼 문제에 대한 한일 양국 사회의 인식을 살펴보고자 한다. 역사적 경위를 정리함과 동시에 12.28 합의 직후의 한일 주요언론사 사설을 살펴보는 과정에서 ‘위안부’ 문제에 대한 한국과 일본의 공통된 인식이 드러났다. 그것은 동북아 국제정세와 한일 양국 정부의 관계를 인권이나 역사적 정의보다 우선시하여 12.28 합의를 긍정적으로 평가하는 시각이다. 이는 12.28 합의가 일본군 ‘위안부’ 문제가 가진 역사인식 문제로서의 본질과 상이한 차원에서 이루어졌다는 것을 의미한다. 즉, 12.28 합의가 말하는 “최종적 및 불가역적으로 해결”되었다는 것은 오로지 한일 간의 외교문제가 해결되었다는 것을 뜻한다고 할 수 있다.
