Abstract
With the coming of the 21st century, we are living in the global age when the world is connected as one. Together with this, the tourism market is continuously growing and the paradigm of tourism and infrastructure of the tourist industry are also developing. The ratio of individual tourists among the 2014 foreign tourists is noticeably increasing, accounting for a large proportion in the travel & sightseeing market. Along with such an increasing trend (transition), individual tourists experience diverse traveling programs when they visit Korea, and want diverse forms of accommodations according to their taste and financial condition individually, but the accommodations to choose from are not diverse but standardized, and actually, only the limited lodging products are being operated. In the light of such a phenomenon, this study analyzed the space composition and program of Guest House which is mostly preferred by individual tourists, and the analysis result is as follows: First, the analysis indicated that there is the need for diverse functional spaces, such as culture experience, information sharing and multi-cultural communication & guidance, etc. and it"s necessary to arrange accommodation function which can meet diverse needs consequent on the increase in the number of individual tourists. Accordingly, this study is intending to look into the problem with domestic Guest House and also to take an in-depth look at the space composition and program of Capsule Guest House consequent on trend transitions.
