Abstract
Methane gas can be collected from seabed and coal beds, and can be used for various alternative energy sources, which can be expected to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Therefore, we have fabricated and tested superhydrophobic PET fabrics container for capturing methane gas. We used ZnO, which has excellent physical-chemical stability to obtain superhydrophobicity ZnO nanorods were grown on the surface of fiber. The superhydrophobic properties of the fiber container were modified by Polydimethylsiloxane and Octadecylamine (PDMS and ODA) composite. In this study, a superhydrophobic PET fabric with a water contact angle over 150o has been fabricated by microwave growth ZnO nanorods on PET fabric were characterized by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and contact angle measurement system. The results show the increase of superhydrophobic properties with increase of microwave growing time. The average diameter and length of nanorods grown for 10 min growth shows 200 nm and 200 nm respectively and contact angle was 150.02o at this 10 minutes growing. The average contact angle for microwave growth time of 12 and 14 min shows the 151.5o and 152.02o respectively with solution concentration ratio 1:3 of ZnAc: Urea.
