- Abstract
- We propose a method to optimize the automatic calibration of filters for ultrasound systems to achieve essential performance metrics of signal and image data. Ultrasound systems use hardware or software filters to acquire ultrasound signals for specific areas and reconstruct them into images. Hardware and software parameters must be compensated depending on the application; however, they are difficult to change after the system is built. In various applications, ultrasonic transducers are often replaced depending on the target samples, which can alter the signal-to-noise ratio and resolution. The proposed method automatically optimizes the filter characteristics by weighting the target performance features in the received echo data. Further, by checking the results of the proposed optimization method, the optimization process and results can be analyzed and some degree of stability can be secured. Therefore, the proposed optimization technique can be utilized in the development, production, and commercialization of ultrasound systems. (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
