- Abstract
- As Fintech industry prospers, mobile payment service has formed an increasingly quick and easy payment environment for users, at the same time, enormous number of users’ financial information has been stored and managed online. Therefore, users have begun to recognize the importance of information security, today. Therefore, this study assumes users’ general perceptions of information security (perceived severity, awareness and controllability) will influence to their perceived security and convenience in mobile payment service. Moreover, we have an aim to identify how users’ perceived security and convenience of mobile payment service affects to their using behaviors, respectively. The results show that all of users’ general perceptions of information security, as we adopted in this study, has significant impacts on perceived security of mobile payment service. Conversely, users’ perceived severity and controllability, except for awareness of information security, also negatively affect to perceived convenience of mobile payment service. A key finding of this study is the greater the value of perceived convenience, the less of perceived security of mobile payment service. Mobile payment service providers should devise a system for relieving users’ concerns or anxieties of personal information infringements or breaches and improve users’ satisfactions of its service quality based on its convenience, at the same time. Once the mobile payment service providers have met the above requirements, it is possible to attract new customers and induce their continuous usage of its services. The results of this study can also imply the needs for reflecting users’ general perceptions toward information security for establishing extended technology acceptance model.
