Abstract
The Textual Source and the Distict Features of the Chunxiang zhuan(≪春香傳≫) of Li Yitao(李逸濤) Edition in Taiwan:Focusing on Comparing It with Takahashi Futsuyen(高橋仏焉)'s Shunkoden no gogai(≪春香伝の梗槪≫)Chunxiang zhuan of Li Yitao's edition which was published serially in Hanwen(漢文) Taiwan ririxinbap of Taiwan in 1906 is the earliest Chinese edition published in Chinese cultural areas. It was based on 16 pages' woodblock edition(A) of Chunhyang jeon(≪春香傳≫; 京版16章(가)), 16 pages' woodblock edition(B)(京版16章(나)), 17 pages edition(京版17章), 23 pages edition(京版23章), and 20 pages edition in Anseong(安城版20章) and Takahashi's Shunkoden no gogai. But Chunxiang zhuan of Li's edition contain so many scenes which does not appear in Chunhyang jeon or Takahashi's Shunkoden no gogai. In other words, Li broke from the level of literal translation of text or simple adaptation to add many newly created contents and made it a kind of adaptation which is closed to creative work. There are three element forming the background that Li could adapt drastically Chunhyang jeon. First, there were many rooms for newly adaptation because the text of Shunkoden no gogai is an abridged translated edition. Second, the author changed it into a Taiwan style with China-centered notion. Finally, he introduced a new technique which frequently appeared in new nowel. I think Li's Chunxiang zhuanh is worthy of notice in the light of the extention of Korean traditional novel and study on it's pedigree of overseas editions.
