- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between event related potential (ERP) and response-selection and to investigate the effect of emotion on a response-selection stage of during the information processing for movement execution. A total 43 university students performed choice reaction time for tasks with the 1, 2, and 4 stimulus-response alternatives after viewing positive and negative emotional picture during 70ms and 3000ms respectively. As the number of stimulus-response alternative increased, four groups revealed linear increases in reaction time (RT). As Amplitude 80ms of ERP increased, reaction time decreases. Short negative emotional stimulus group is significantly faster in 170ms latency of ERP than the other groups. These findings suggest that the decreased RT in short negative emotional stimulus group is due to an increased arousal by emotional stimulus in central processing mechanism.
