- Abstract
- Purpose: To derive the characteristics of the strategy of urban regeneration in Dresden, with which the regional identity is strengthened and a positive urban structure is created through the use of Regional assets. Method: The content process for carrying out this study is as follows. The first step is to theoretically examine the relationship between Regional assets in the context of the planning characteristics of urban regeneration strategy. In a second step, The urban problems in Dresden are confronted with are analyzed. The final step is to analyze the urban regeneration strategy for Regional assets. Result: This study has the following implications: First, regional assets need to be developed and promoted to create the urban identity and create opportunities for urban regeneration. Second, regional assets need to be developed through maintenance and improvement of the settlement environment. Thus, urban regeneration could be achieved through the discovery, preservation, advancement, and development of regional assets.
