- Abstract
- Purpose: This study is conducted to classify achievement goal orientation into four groups according to high and low task orientation and self orientation, and to investigate whether there is a difference in the level of serious leisure between these groups.
Method: For this study, questionnaires of 204 adults who had been active in a badminton club for more than one year were analyzed. Confirmatory factor analysis, reliabitliy analysis, 1-way ANOVA test, and post-tes t were performed. The significance level of hypothesis verification is set-up at α=.05.
Results: The results of the analysis are as follows: First, accordingt o the high and low task orientation and ego orientation of the sports achievement goal orientation ,the median was classified into a total of fou r groups. Second, there was a statistically significant difference in all sub-factors of serious leisure according to the group classified by the sports achievement goal orientatio.n Third, as a result of the post-test, the grou p with high task orientation and high self-orientation showed significantly high levels in all serious leisure factors, and the group with low task orientation and self-orientation had low levels in all sub-factors. In addition, leisure expertise was significantly higher in the group with high task orientation, and continuous benefits were significantly higher in the group with high self-orientation.
Conclusion: These results can be used to find a way to promote participation in serious leisure by revealing which factors of serious leisure appear at a higher level according to the sports achievement goal orientation.
