Abstract

In order to analyze the establishment and activities of the Joseon Soft Tennis Association during the Japanese colonial period, this study is based on data such as newspapers, books, and photos. The following conclusions were obtained by examining activities such as the dispatch of a tennis court and the dispatch of touring tennis coaches. First, since its founding on May 21, 1924, the Chosun Soft Tennis Association has set the goal of hosting domestic and international competitions and nurturing players, and has become a key player in the development of sports through two organizational reorganizations. Second, the All-Joseon Soft Tennis Championships is a major competition hosted by the Joseon Soft Tennis Association, and outstanding tennis players from all over the country participate to promote the development of Joseon soft tennis based on the competition of skills with Japanese players as well as Korean players. played a stimulating role. Third, the Joseon Soft Tennis Association dispatched the winners of the Joseon Soft Tennis Championships and excellent players to the All Japan Soft Tennis Championships to provide them with opportunities to compete and grow on the international stage, thereby improving the overall skills of the Joseon soft tennis players. Fourth, the Joseon Soft Tennis Association contributed to the improvement and publicity of soft tennis skills by carrying out national touring soft tennis coaching activities. Summarizing the above results, the Joseon Soft Tennis Association can be evaluated as a key organization that created a boom in soft tennis during the Japanese colonial period through its founding and organizational reorganization and had a great influence on the overall development of the Joseon soft tennis world.
