- Abstract
- Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications provide cars with unprecedented connected services. Merging with the cellular-based Internet of Things (IoT) technology, i.e., Narrowband-IoT (NB-IoT), V2X can further enhance its potential. Some limitations exist in Vehicle-to-IoT (V2IoT) communications, e.g., different bands between V2X and IoT, lack of NB sidelink, and low-reception rate of NB-IoT devices. In this letter, we propose a novel V2IoT communication system to support direct communications via the LTE band or the NB. For IoT devices, the enhanced discontinuous reception configuration adaptation to reflect the mission critical characteristics of vehicular communications is proposed. Also, for vehicles, efficient utilization of the LTE band and the NB resources is provided using the common preambles. © 2012 IEEE.
