- Abstract
- This study focuses on the systematic construction of facilities through proposals of policy measures to enhance smart city competitiveness in Korea. It also identifies the examples of facilities built around the leading overseas smart cities such as Barcelona, Spain and London, U.K. The current study intends to present a plan that can support the promotion of smart city by suggesting strategies and roadmaps for long-term plan domestic and foreign smart city adapting to changes in technology conditions and policies.
Through the theoretical approach, this study defines the smart city and city facilities, and suggest some implications for the smart city legislation in Korea which embarked on a new development benchmarking the case of Barcelona and London. Results show that the smart city system should be reorganized and constructed in accordance with the process from city basic plans to design guidelines. The study concludes that guidelines to establish facilities are needed to strength the competitiveness of domestic smart cities by making legal and institutional reorganization and urban planning and technology planning complementary.
