Abstract
< The Way of Revival>, hosted by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, was launched in line with the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2007. At the recent-modern history exhibition gallery of the National Museum of China, <The Way of Revival> aims to show - after the Opium War in 1840, when China became an anti-colonial and anti-feudalist society - how the Chinese people overcame the challenges, and how, under the guidance of the communist party of China, in order to realize the national revival, they chose Marxism, the communist party of China, socialist way, and the way of reform and opening, as they struggled to acquire national independence and liberation, and national wealthy and happiness. The first section exhibition of <The Way of Revival> describes the fall of Qing Dynasty, imperial aggression, and the Chinese people resisting that. Each exhibition showcases symbolic exhibits, but since there are not many vital exhibits that touch viewers, pictures, sculptures, and interior decorations are used to complement such a lack of exhibits. <The Way of Revival> emphasizes the Tibetans and Taiwanese people who struggled to resist imperial aggressions in recent modern China. This implicitly intends to see Tibetans and the Taiwanese people as part of Chinese people. Also, the exhibition attempts to show part of efforts to revive Chinese people, although recent-modern intellectuals tried in vain to bolster the strength and wealth of China. The <The Way of Revival> exhibition, like the history textbooks of Chinese middle school, describes the imperial aggression on China and resistance to it in the recent-modern history of China. However, <The Way of Revival>, unlike the previous history of revolution, espouses revival, probably emphasizing intellectuals' pursuits and struggle for the revival of recent-modern China.
