- Abstract
- The oxidation of Ti19Al18La4N57 coating was studied at 600 degrees C, 700 degrees C, and 800 degrees C for up to 30 h in air. The coating consisted of fine Ti3Al3N2 polycrystals. The oxides formed were an amorphous mixture of Al2O3, TiO2, and La2O3. During oxidation, nitrogen diffused out from the coating. The addition of 4 at.% La to the TiAlN coating deteriorated the soundness of the oxide film formed.
