Abstract
During the period of Japanese occupation, Korean tales were an important medium which knows Korea for the Japanese in Japan. This paper is research on the Korean mythology from the collection of Korean tales published in Japanese. In 1926, “Joseon fairy tales” written by Nakamura Ryohei was published in Tokyo. It was the literature of the early time to introduce Korean mythology to Japanese that “Joseon fairy tales” was recorded 9 Korean mythology and reprinted 6 times. As well as the number of mythology, also in the Influence to people, “Joseon fairy tales” is very important data for knowing the Korean mythology of the period of Japanese occupation. However, there are only few numbers of previous work about Korean mythology from “Joseon fairy tales” has few numbers. This paper considered in order to clarify the character of “Joseon fairy tales”, focusing on the intention of compilation. First, based on the previous work, Nakamura Ryohei and his ideological foundations were summarized. Secondly, the character and composition of ‘part3 tradition’ were analyzed and the adaptation which are visible to the text were also checked. As a result, it turned out that Nakamura aimed at organization of Korean mythology systematically in chronological order, specially focused on the country founder myth. “Joseon fairy tales” can be evaluated as a valuable collection of Korean mythology, which was produced under such a compilation posture of Nakamura.
