Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a multicultural population acceptability scale for Korean college students. This study was based on DeVellis(2003)' scale development procedure. The research participants were college students attending 5 universities located in Seoul and Gyeonggi province, Korea. A structured questionnaire of 13 items with the 5-point Likert scale was administered to 600 students and the data from 541 valid cases were used. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were used to analyze the data. The findings show that the suggested scale of 13 items with 3 sub domains of knowledge, skill, and attitude is valid to measure the multicultural population acceptability of college students in terms of convergent validity, discriminant validity, multiple group internal consistency, and criterion validity. This scale could be utilized to provide an empirical foundation for making policies on multicultural issues and designing multicultural education programs.
