- Abstract
- Flash memory based memory devices are getting more admired. It has many advantages than traditional hard disk. However, random access pattern of different workload influences on performance of flash memory. So, present trend on FTL design is locality based FTL. A locality competent FTL (LC-FTL) is proposed, where temporal and spatial localities are considered. To utilize localities, file system requests are divided according to size. Hence, some active mappings are temporally stored in SRAM. Existing FTL involve a lot of overhead accesses because of uncached data. Experimental result depicts better performance in terms of read, write and importantly erase operation than other FTLs. © 2014 International Information Institute.
