Abstract
A watermark-based copyright protection scheme can be adapted to prevent application piracy for smart mobile devices. However, most watermarking techniques do not consider resource limitations and interactivity of applications for smart mobile devices. Considering these limitations and interactivity, efficiency is an important feature for embedding watermarks in mobile applications. In this paper, we analyze the cost of embedding multiple watermarks in terms of the temporal and spatial overhead. Based on the analysis, we propose a simple efficiency analysis model for embedding multiple watermarks. This allows a user to choose the most efficient number of watermarks to be inserted considering the cost. © 2014 International Information Institute.
