- Abstract
- The existing method of creating a stereoscopy image creates left viewpoint and right viewpoint images by shooting one object with two lenses at a certain distance. However, in the case of 3-D TV transmission using a stereoscopy camera, both the left viewpoint and right viewpoint images need to be transmitted simultaneously, which places a large burden on the bandwidth. Various and more effective alternatives have been considered. Among the alternatives, depth image based rendering (DIBR) creates left-view and right-view images using a single image and its depth information, thereby requiring a reduced amount of the bandwidth. For this reason, there have been studies on various algorithms to create DEBR images in conventional static scenes. However, few studies have dealt with the problems and performance capabilities of such algorithms when they are applied to real-time images. In this paper, we propose an alternative approach to create 3D TV stereo images by applying various DIBR algorithms to real-time images. In addition, we have analyzed the effectiveness of each algorithm by comparing and calculating their functions. © 2013 International Information Institute.
