- Abstract
- In this paper, the method of protection coordination between the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) and the overcurrent relay (OCR) which includes the function of voltage control among existing protection devices in the power distribution system was analyzed. To reduce the fault current which has increased due to the increase of the power supply with the power demand, the SFCL which is one of the methods to resolve the problem has been announced. However, the operation of the protection device and protection coordination has been changed by the application of the SFCL, which requires the analysis of the operation between the SFCL and the protection device with the protection coordination in the power distribution system. To maintain the protection coordination, the solutions such as control of the resistance and the adjustment of the parameters in the OCR have noticed. In this paper, the method to keep the protection coordination was investigated and could be confirmed for protection coordination through the voltage control in the OCR. © 2013 ICIC International.
