- Abstract
- A Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method is developed to aid decision makers in the Electrical Generation Expansion Planning and Management in Korea. Traditionally, the prime objective of an electric utility’s generation-expansion planning has been to determine the minimum cost supply plans that meet expected demands over a planning horizon (typically 20 to 30 years).
Today, however, the nature of decision environments has changed substantially. Increased policy attention is given to solve the multiple tradeoff function including environmental and social factors(CO₂ emissions and nuclear safety, etc) as well as economic one related to electrical power generation expansion. In order to deal with this MCDM problem, the already available dynamic-programming-based tool, called Wien Automatic System Planning Package(WASP) can be upgraded and calculated. Along with relevant weights, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) Model is devised and applied.
