Abstract
The purpose of the study was to examine the influence of exercise addiction on muscle injury markers in squash club members. In order to achieve this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted with 217 squash club members residing in Seoul and Kyonggi. Exercise addiction participants were divided into 3 groups, that is,non-addicted, over-use, and addicted group by the exercise addiction scales. In this study, heat shock protein 70,creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase were measured to confirm the level of muscle injury. There was significant difference in heat shock protein 70, creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase between exercise addiction levels(p<0.05). The results represent that muscle injury is more affected by high level of exercise addiction. In summary, these results suggest that muscle injury markers (heat shock protein 70, creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase) might increase as the exercise addiction level increases.
