Abstract
The relaxation effect of the myofascial release technique on the fatigued upper trapezius was quantitatively evaluated by ultrasonography for women in their 40s having suffered from chronic fatigue. The thickness of fat and muscle fascia, echodensity and white area index (WAI) were measured according to the number of the myofascial release technique treatment. Just relaxing was not effective to release fatigue muscle because the control group took enough rest, have no changes of the thickness of fat and muscle layers, echodensity, and WAI. On the other hand, thickness of fat at the testing-group is decreased more than 35% by the numbers of the myofascial release technique, and also the thickness of fatigued muscle fascia layers was decreased about 14~27%. With increasing the number of the treatment, echodensity and AWI is decreased 1.6~53% and 4.0~13.7%, respectively. In conclusion, the myofascial release technique is one of effective method to relax the fatigued muscle.
